How can I check my child development milestones?


If you feel your child is slow to meet an appropriate milestone or isn't making the same development as their peers, it's naturally worrying. however, it is important to remember or check your child step by step developmental milestones. in the world every child is not the same, they can play differently, development is also different so every parent should have to understand.

here is some basic parents cross-check for developmental milestones.







Infant- birth to 1 year

  • Social smile

  • Gest first tooth

  • Plays peek-a-boo

  • Says mama and dada, tata, using terms appropriately

  • Clearly understands "NO" and child will stop activity in response

  • Able to drink from a cup


Toddler- 1 to 1 1/2 years

  • Words produced with consonant vowel-structure (bo/boat)

  • Follows simple one-step commands

  • Points to one to four body parts on commands

  • Perceives others emotions

  • Recognizes own name

  • waves hand for bye-bye

  • Requests objects by pointing, vocalizing or using word approximation.



1-2 years

  • Spoken words increase in frequency.

  • Ask questions by raising intonations at end of the phrase

  • Understand approximately 300-500 words

  • Listens to simple stories

  • Express "NO"

  • Combines 2 words into phrases

  • Refers to self with pronoun and name (me Tommy)

  • Talks to self as child plays


2-2 1/2 years

  • Understands almost 500-1000 words

  • Listens to a 5-10 minute story

  • Ask the "WH" questions

  • Answers "WH" answers

  • Using irregular past tense emerging

  • The average response is 3-4 words


2-3 years

  • Can able to ex main consonants: m, n, w, h, p, t, d, etc.

  • Comprehends approximately above 1000 words

  • Know the difference between male/female

  • Is the caution of common dangers

  • Ask and understand yes/no questions



3-4 years


  • The child can able to express in sentence level

  • Frequently ask "WH" questions ex:- where is daddy, when daddy will come, why he went outside., etc.

  • Play with peer group

  • Act like a teacher, mother, grandparents, bus driver etc.
